These photos show the difference between a nasty, unkempt crawlspace and one that has been fixed using CleanSpace. The wet dirt has been sealed off from the rest of the house. All the nasty and wet insulation has been removed to get rid of the "mold farms" and smells. The beautiful white vapor barrier is sealed and basically continuous which means that almost no water vapor will get into the crawlspace. This will help to lower the humidity to make the whole house healthier and fell better.

This crawl space has severe water damage. Most of the insulation was either falling or already on the ground. The sub floor was soaked from the moisture. DryZone pulled all the old insulation out and wrapped the crawl space with a heavy vapor barrier. A SaniDry CX dehumidifier was installed to lower the humidity and get the entire space dried out. The difference was like night and day.

This old plywood door had soaked up water over the years and wasn't a good sealed entryway. DryZone was able to install a heavy vinyl door that fits snug because it is built on site for each doorway. It will come off easily by removing the wing nut style screws. You can also see the white IceGuards which keep the sump pump discharge from freezing. There are 2 of them because this house has a TripleSafe sump pump system which requires 2 discharge lines. Lastly, there is a SmartVent flood vent on the right. These special vents will open and relieve pressure in the event of a major flood. Every other day, they will stay closed and keep out the moist air. When a major flood comes, if it ever does, the foundation walls aren't able to hold up under the massive pressure. So the vents help to save your home.

Most people are familiar with the standard metal door for their crawlspace. The Everlast door is a much better way to seal off the crawlspace entry from humid air and critters. It is made of heavy vinyl and cut on site so that it is a custom fit. You will never have to worry about the Everlast rusting or warping. Ever notice that your crawlspace door rattles in the wind? That will never happen with an Everlast door. Several large plastic coated bolts hold the door in place, so that its easily accessible for repairs to HVAC, plumbing, or other utilities found under the house. Even the door jam is built on site to ensure a tight fit.

Whether your crawlspace floor is dirt or concrete, the Hydrolink drainage pipe system that DryZone uses is perfect for fixing a ground water problem. The only way to truly guarantee a waterproofed crawlspace is with the appropriate amount of drainage pipes and sump pumps. A sump pump is great to have in a crawlspace, but how will water from other parts of the crawlspace reach the pump without some sort of piping system? A great and easy way to relate to this concept is by thinking of the sump pump as a city, you could get to the city without roads but it would be a long and rough trip. If you add smooth roads, Hydrolink drainage pipes, then the trip is faster and much easier. One great advantage that Hydrolink has over other pipe systems is that it is made up of smooth pipes rather than ridges like those of a black corrugated pipe. Those ridges trap dirt and debris very easily and can clog incredibly quickly. Hydrolink is far less likely to clog and even has inspection ports built into the system. These ports allow you to see if the system clogs and flush it out with a hose if needed.
