This homeowner in North Kingstown, RI reached out to us because their crawl space had a lot of excess moisture and a mildewy smell. Our inspector, Andy, went out to the home and drew up a solution for them. On installation day, our crew first removed any debris that was in the space and then they laid down drainage matting over the dirt floor to allow any water to flow under and out instead of pooling inside. Then they insulated the space with our SilverGlo wall insulation and TerraBlock floor insulation which both regulate temperature and don't deteriorate over time. The crew then fully encapsulated the crawl space with our CleanSpace vapor barrier and installed our SaniDry XP dehumidifier to eliminate the excess moisture and the musty odor. Now the homeowner can have peace of mind when it comes to their crawl space.
The Cleanspace liner was installed in this Narragansett, RI crawlspace to isolate the home from the earth completley and permanently. The liner is a heavy 20-mil thick material comparable to a pool liner. The bright white color really brightens the crawlspace to make better use of available light!
Mold can grow on dirt, insulation, framing and even under the carpet on the first floor. Mold destroys organic materials as it feeds on them. Mold cannot grow when the humidity levels are reduced to below 50% and the crawlspace must be separated from the earth. The sagging insulation you see is because the moisture is absorbed by the organic, fiberglass insulation and it becomes so heavy that gravity pulls it down. We removed all of the organic material in this Narragansett, RI crawlspace and installed CleanSpace to isolate the earth from the rest of the home.
This crawlspace in Narragansett, RI had debris removed and was encapsulated with Cleanspace. We also installed a SaniDry Sedona to control the moisture and humidity.
This Narragansett, RI home has some moisture issues in the crawl space, causing wet insulation that could create some structural issues if not taken care of. To prevent further damage, our crew encapsulated the space with our CleanSpace vapor barrier and replaced that old wet fiberglass insulation with SilverGlo insulation along the rim joists.
