Problem: Window wells are necessary to keep the structure around a window draining properly, keep water and debris away from the window and to improve egress.
Solution: We installed window wells on all the basement windows of this home.
Inspector: Rick
Foreman: Justin
We mitigated this home for Radon Gas. We also installed this sump lid, which has a hinged window access point.
Before
An older set up with and open sump pit. The water in the pit will evaporate into the basement area causing a rise in humidity. This could contribute to mould growth, structural material deterioration and unpleasant odours. The open pit may allow objects and dirt to enter which could result in poor sump pump performance.
After
Airtight Sump Lid: An airtight lid keeps odours and humidity out while protecting your sump from debris from the basement floor. Rubber grommets around all pipes and wires help maintain the airtight lid and also help to keep all PVC pipes steady and quiet.
Give Advanced Basement Systems a call if your sump pump is providing humidity and odour in your home.
The home was showing signs of moisture and low heating efficiency. The original construction used a 6 mil vapour barrier over the dirt floor but was not properly sealed to the walls or posts. There was no insulation on the walls or headers. Advanced Basement Systems installed Clean Space Encapsulation along with spray foam insulation on the walls and headers to improve home comfort and humidity control.
Installed Clean Space and dehumidification in a crawl space that contained standing water.
