Flooded basement: Once your basement or crawl space gets flooded, you want to understand why, in addition to getting it fixed. Rhode Island receives ample precipitation year-round, with powerful Nor'easters causing significant snowfall. At the head of Narragansett Bay, many parts of the state are also vulnerable to hurricanes. This all adds up to serious flooding issues.
Other wet basement signs: There are many possible sources for pooling water, damp basement walls or flooring, and high humidity. These include: rusty basement windows, poor grading around the foundation, leaks through cracks in the foundation, saturated soils, simple plumbing failures, and poorly functioning drainage or sump pump systems. A basement already musty and damp is ill-prepared for the next bad rainstorm! Basement waterproofing can address the underlying issues, prevent future water damage and improve the indoor air quality.
Waterproof your basement today! Basement Systems contractors have been helping Rhode Island homeowners fix their wet basements for decades. Identifying the source of leaks, flooding, groundwater seepage, and musty odors have all helped Rhode Island homes become healthier and safer. With a range of waterproofing and moisture control solutions available through Basement Systems, your local contractor will install the right solution for your basement or crawl space.

Comment: Moved into newly renovated house on river. There is mildew smell in basement and I see green mildew on items stored in basement. I am interested in running an HVAC dehumidifying system to mitigate the problem.
Project Location: Stone Ridge Dr, East Greenwich, RI 02818
Comment: We moved into a home in May and our basement had a flood on Christmas. We estimate about 75 gallons of water were removed. It was the storm and combination of snowmelt. We are adjacent to a wetland. The previous owners did not disclose water issues but in retrospect, they were there. We do not plan to finish the basement but would like to mitigate water coming inside.

Comment: We have a finished basement which has a musty odor. We'd like an estimate on installing a dehumidification system.
Project Location: Jeffrey Drive, North Scituate, RI 02857
Comment: During the last heavy rain storm, the lower portion of our basement, which is finished with floor tile and drywall, had substantial water pooling of about 1/16" in areas. The same issue happens in the attached (basement) garage. Our roof downspouts go underground and we assume it feeds to the septic tank. In the garage, it looks like the water leaches through the cement floor and slightly around the interior perimeter. This only happens during above average rain storms.
