Flooded basement: Once your basement or crawl space gets flooded, you want to understand why, in addition to getting it fixed. Rhode Island receives ample precipitation year-round, with powerful Nor'easters causing significant snowfall. At the head of Narragansett Bay, many parts of the state are also vulnerable to hurricanes. This all adds up to serious flooding issues.
Other wet basement signs: There are many possible sources for pooling water, damp basement walls or flooring, and high humidity. These include: rusty basement windows, poor grading around the foundation, leaks through cracks in the foundation, saturated soils, simple plumbing failures, and poorly functioning drainage or sump pump systems. A basement already musty and damp is ill-prepared for the next bad rainstorm! Basement waterproofing can address the underlying issues, prevent future water damage and improve the indoor air quality.
Waterproof your basement today! Basement Systems contractors have been helping Rhode Island homeowners fix their wet basements for decades. Identifying the source of leaks, flooding, groundwater seepage, and musty odors have all helped Rhode Island homes become healthier and safer. With a range of waterproofing and moisture control solutions available through Basement Systems, your local contractor will install the right solution for your basement or crawl space.

Comment: Our house was built in 1861. We insulated it last winter. That created the problem of less airflow and a very damp basement. I have put foam insulation covers on the pipes to curb condensation, but I had to get a dehumidifier . The basement has a trench through the concrete to drain heavy rain water. I think we've solved the water-in-the-basement problem but I need to figure out how to curb moisture and keep the basement dry.
