The problems with traditional crawl space doors are that they are normally made of plywood which is really waterproof and allows for moisture, water, and bugs to get into a homes crawl space.  Replacing the door with a Everlast door fixes these problems! The shallow area beneath your home between the bottom of the structure and the ground does offer some benefits in the way of ease of access to pipes and plumbing, unfortunately there are certain disadvantages when left as is.

Those being an ideal environment for mold to flourish - mold doesn't need sunlight for energy, just water, food and warmth. It is also worth noting that Termites enjoy the same conditions. The only way to control mold is to control moisture.
