We had some water come in through the back corner of our groundfloor (which is functionally the basement, as its the part right on the slab). It was likely from the big storm last week, but we didn't notice it until this Wednesday, as the part of the house that was wet is normally covered by some big storage items. We have a side door with outside stairs going down to it. Drain at the bottom of stairs cannot handle heavy rain and water from pipes coming in from the sides, and water leaks in through door, soaks carpet and baseboards. Door also has gap at bottom. Last night water was at least 6" up the door.

Hello, I moved to a new home less than a year ago. This house was built in 1948. It is the first house I have ever owned that has a sump pump in it. There is a bedroom and a music room in the basement so it is important that we do whatever possible so the we avoid it ever flooding. I would like someone to come and inspect the sump pump we currently have to make sure if it is in good shape or not and make any recommendations that would prevent the basement from flooding. We have not had any problem with flooding, but we are trying to be proactive so the we do not have any problems in the future. Thank you.
