Dirt Crawl spaces have the high humidity levels necessary for mold growth. Humidity levels from 50-90% are easily found in dirt crawl spaces that have never flooded. Mold can grow on dirt, insulation, framing and even under your carpet on the first floor. Mold destroys organic materials as it feeds on them. Mold reproduces by producing millions of floating airborne spores, which some people are very sensitive to. Spores can be dormant for many years, waiting for the right conditions to grow. Some molds produce mycotoxins, such as the black mold Stachybotrys.

A wet crawl space in Mammoth Springs left homeowners feeling uneasy, so they contacted Crawl Space Solutions of Arkansas. We sent a system design specialist out assess the area and lay out some solutions. After consulting with the homeowners, it was agreed to install a CleanSpace Vapor Barrier and Drainage Matting into the homes crawl space. Each will play an integral part in keeping the crawl space a dry and healthy space.

A dirt crawl space under a home is a very bad idea. The earth has very high humidity in the soil. This water vapor moves easily into the crawl space and upwards into the house environment.  Insect and critters of all kinds love damp environments and wet materials. Rot and decay occur in damp environments causing structural damage.

Client requested our service to help them create a clean, dry crawl space, where they had been having some moisture problems. For this space, we installed a complete encapsulation system. We removed all debris in the space, then placed down our Drainage Matting and topped that with our CleanSpace 20 mil liner. To finish sealing the home from outside moisture, we placed vent covers and replaced the crawl space access door with one of our EverLast airtight doors. Finally, we placed a SaniDry Sonoma dehumidifier in the area to bring the humidity under control in the space. 

This crawl space is now a much cleaner, drier, and healthier space for this client's home and family.

New homeowners in Cherokee Village called CrawlSpace Solutions of Arkansas with concerns about moisture in their crawl space and how cold their new home was during winter. Zachary, Jordan, and their team began by grading the crawl space, then they sealed the vents using graphite infused SilverGlo VentSeals. The piers were wrapped with Wallie, a 12-mil thick liner designed for masonry, reducing humidity in the air by eliminating condensation on the masonry. Our Drainage Matting created a drainage space under the CleanSpace Liner and provided a thermal barrier, puncture resistance, and durability. The CleanSpace Liner was installed, completely isolating the home from the earth, and creating a bright environment. The addition of the Energy Star rated SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier and the custom cut EverLast Door made this encapsulation complete. The source of moisture in the crawl space is eliminated, it is insulated, and the homeowners can now enjoy a comfortable, clean, healthy home.
