The Turtl is a great way to improve on a leaky crawlspace entry. The old metal door rusts and warps, the entry well will fill up with water and mud. Thankfully the Turtl is air tight and water tight. It will keep all the rain and ground water out of the crawlspace.

A dry crawl space is one of the best ways to get your home healthier and more efficient. The wood support beams will dry out over time and become more rigid. The air conditioner and heating units will work more efficiently since it is easier to heat and cool dry air. One of the biggest differences people notice is the smells getting better. This crawl space was full of moisture and related problems. The inspector found evidence of high humidity, possible mold spores, and damaged insulation. The ground cover was older 6 mil liner and was barely covering the ground at all. DryZone installed a high quality 20 mil liner called CleanSpace. The liner is installed on the walls and the floor which effectively locks out the moisture and keeps the crawl space dry. DryZone also installed a perimeter drainage pipe system, sump pump, and high quality dehumidifier. With all of these products installed the crawl space is now dry, clean, and healthier.

Humidity causes insulation to become saturated with water, sag, grow mold, and fall to the ground. Its better to have a vapor barrier with insulation than to have insulation. However if you prefer to have insulation you could get SilverGlo, a water proof foam panel with graphite particles to reflect heat into the crawlspace more.
