Water, heat, and ultraviolet radiation are the three forces that destroy organic materials in general, and wood in particular. In Kentucky, water in crawl spaces is by far the most destructive force that causes structural damage and unhealthy home environments.
A dirt, vented, or unconditioned concrete crawl space under a home can lead to a variety of problems. The earth has very high humidity in the soil and the water vapor moves easily into the crawl space and upwards into your house environment. Your home is a system, and every part of that system plays a role that affects the rest of the structure. If your crawl space begins to rot, grow mold, or experience structural problems, this will extend to every part of your home.
In addition, a home with a dirt crawl space in Kentucky costs more to heat and cool. And if your crawl space is vented, those vents let hot, wet, or cold air in, making your floors cold upstairs in winter and hot in summer.
To combat the crawl space problems, our CleanSpace dealers from Basement Systems international waterproofing contractors network have positioned themselves to be the leading experts in crawl space moisture control and all other crawl space repair services. Comment: Wet crawl space. Small puddles of standing water. Currently water is entering through vents because the grace of the yard is bad. The grading is being fixed, but, I am still in need of a way to dehumidify and better vent the space.

Comment: We have a water drainage issue in the back of our home. We have a concrete drive area and the water is getting into the very small crawl space under the house. There is no direct access to get under the house into the crawl space. The water has caused some damage which resulted in one of our back bedrooms having sub-floor and floor joist damage. We have removed the floor so that we can see where the water is actually coming in from and it appears that all across the back, it is seeping in from the concrete foundation. On the driveway side of the house, it appears to be the same cause.
