Brandon saw one of our commercials for the egress windows Ayers offers. He was interested in getting one to make his basement safer, so he gave us a call. Egress windows allow a safe exit in the event of an emergency. Installing this window is especially crucial if you plan on finishing the basement or turning it into a regular living space. Brandon's basement will be brighter and more inviting for guests. He won't have issues with water seeping in during heavy rains since the windows are waterproof. In their South Lyon, MI home just a stone’s throw from Whitmore Lake, one homeowner dreamed of escaping summer heat by relaxing in his cool basement “man cave.” But his wife had one rule—no spending serious time down there without a safe exit. That’s where Ayers came in. We replaced their old basement window with a large, code-compliant escape window (egress window) and added a sleek, galvanized steel cover for protection and curb appeal. Now, he can enjoy his retreat in comfort and safety—and she has peace of mind knowing the basement is secure and up to code.

Sometimes you just know something is wrong, even without obvious symptoms. This was the case with our customer in Ypsilanti, who called with a problem crawl space. But the culprit wasn't flooding, or mildew, or even cold floors. It was dust.

There were little signs of all the others, of course, but their major impetus for calling was the excessive amount of dust that seemed to be in the house at all times. They were concerned for their health and the health of their six dogs.

So we checked it out, and sure enough, the vented crawl space was the dust culprit. Dust (and water, and bugs, and who knows what else) would enter through the vents, then travel through the ducts to the rest of the house.

We encapsulated the crawl space with our CleanSpace vapor barrier system and installed SilverGlo insulation panels to protect the crawl space from the elements, and the house above from the crawl space. And to make sure the job was complete, we sealed off those pesky vents with our Everlast Crawl Space Vent Covers.

The signs of water damage are visible in this Atlanta, MI basement, as the first picture shows. Water had been seeping in through the concrete blocks of these foundation walls, and with nowhere for it to go, it remained along the bottom of the wall.

The solutions our team installed to address this issue were the WaterGuard system and a TripleSafe sump pump. WaterGuard is a sub-floor drainage system that sits on top of the footing, capturing water from any leaks and rerouting it to the sump pump. The TripleSafe sump pump is the only of its kind—with three sump pumps in one liner, it functions even if one pump can’t keep up. A sump pump like this works to effectively pump water caught by the WaterGuard system out of your basement, keeping it dry at all times.

Carol noticed she had a dirt floor crawl space under her home. She worried about pests or extra water inside her home, so she called Ayers. Our team of specialists decided to install the CleanSpace vapor barrier. CleanSpace is an antimicrobial material designed to last as long as the house, far stronger than a store-bought tarp. The vapor barrier is uninterrupted, covers the walls and floors of the crawl space, and eliminates moisture, pests, and mold.
