After purchasing their new home these homeowners noticed several issues that were occurring in their basement. More specifically water coming in through the wall-floor joints, humidity on the wall, and a subtle crack along their left basement wall. Because of these issues, they contacted Basement Systems of New York to see what could be done to take care of the issues at hand.
To address all the issues in their basement we installed several of our patented products. These products consisted of our WaterGuard waterproofing system around the perimeter of their basement, four CarbonArmor foundation stabilizing straps, five PowerBrace wall supports a TripleSafe sump pump system, and finally our SaniDry XP dehumidification system.
These five systems integrated into one will make sure that their basement stays dry, humidity stays out, but more importantly that their home does not fall over.
These homeowners contacted Basement Systems of New York because of two issues plaguing their home. More specifically a radon level of five point two in their home and damp, wet, musty crawl space, which was creating many issues upstairs, as well as affecting their health. Because of how well their project came out with our sister company Foamco they decided to contact us and see what could be done to improve the overall quality of their home.
To take care of the issues they were experiencing, we installed our patented radon mitigation system along with an additional penetration point and our SmartDrain basin. We then proceeded to encapsulate their crawl space with our 20-millimeter thick CleanSpace vapor barrier. Once installed, we sprayed 2" of closed-cell spray foam to our CleanSpace vapor barrier. After laying our vapor barrier, we finished this project off with one of our patented Basementaire dehumidification systems.
By applying our patented products to their home, we reduced their radon level from their previous five-point two to a two. While the main concern for these homeowners was their radon level, they were also concerned about the humidity, dampness, and mustiness throughout their home, by encapsulating their crawl space and installing our dehumidification system, we were able to remediate the problem at hand. In doing so, we were able to make their home more comfortable. Overall these homeowners were so glad that they had both a comfortable home again, as well as peace of mind restored to them.
Over time our client's walkway started to deteriorate and shift due to the soil from being there for so long. Basement Systems of New York was called upon to return this walkway to its former glory, as well give their home more appeal. We were able to transform their walkway thanks to the help of PolyLevel.
This home has needed some TLC since day one due to its poor compaction of the soil when it was backfilled and graded when it was first built. Because this home was originally built on the fill basement floor with radiant heat and bluestone it settled. The homeowner several years ago repaired the settlement issue by the stones and adding a larger mortar bed. This worked for a short time. Because of this reoccurring issue, they contacted Basement Systems of New York to see what could be done to take care of the issue at hand.
For us to take care of the issue at hand we had to lift some of the stones and remove the prior incorrect repair to be able to see the original pour line. Once we were able to figure out where the original pour line was we then started to lift and level this home's floors back to their proper height with the help of PolyLevel.
These homeowners contacted Basement Systems Of New York to see how we could not only keep water out of their garage, which they used for storage but as well to rectify their concrete floor, which had sunken and cracked. Because of our expertise with concrete leveling and repair, they knew that we were the company to complete their project.
Because of the severity of their slab, our original approach of lifting, leveling, and stabilizing it did not make sense due to how foregone their slab was. Because of how damaged it was, we transitioned away from drilling our pilot holes to fill the voids below the slab with PolyLevel to ripping out and replacing their old slab, as well as installing our patented TrenchDrain.
To do so, we first had to jackhammer the entirety of the slab to break it up and then move it by hand from the garage to our dump truck. We then made sure that everything was level. Finally, we laid our gravel and installed rebar to give the slab rigidity and to ensure that it could support the weight of personal items. Once done, we created our trench in front of the garage to make way for our TrehchDrain. This system will stop any water from penetrating their garage. It'll do this by collecting it right before it enters and will discharge it away from their home. After completing these tasks, we moved on to pouring the concrete for our new slab and filled in the trench we had created. Finally, before cleaning up we applied our hand finish.
Overall these homeowners were ecstatic with how their project turned out. Not only because of the quality of workmanship but also because of the professionalism and trustworthiness of our team. If they had to do it all over again, they would rehire Basement Systems Of New York to complete their project.
