This home in Greenville, South Carolina was trying to finish their basement, but before they did that they wanted to take care of a few moisture issues within the space.
In the before picture, we have the space enclosed by brick. And, although brick is common, it’s not particularly water resistant. To combat this issue, we installed CleanSpace pictured here in the after picture. Our CleanSpace is a 20 mils thick plastic liner, reinforced with polyester cords for added strength and durability. The CleanSpace is sealed using a variety of methods, but all of them are designed to keep the material sealed.
Many homeowners don't realize that they have moisture issues until someone else makes them aware of a possible issue. One of the biggest reasons for this is because a lot of homeowners hardly ever go under their home, and even when they do, they probably don't know some of the signs of water intrusion and high moisture levels. However there are many contractors that frequently work in crawlspaces who know some common signs of moisture issues.
This happened to be the case for this homeowner. When they had a pest control company at their home, the technician noticed that the moisture level was much too high in the crawlspace. While it was great that the technician noticed the high moisture level, a good amount of "damage" had already begun, such as mold already growing on the floor joists in the crawlspace and soaked floors. However, even with the problem as bad as it was, our System Design Specialist knew that we had a solution for this homeowner.
The high moisture level in the crawlspace of this home was taken care of with the installation of CleanSpace and several other products that help to keep the water out of the crawlspace. Our crew installed 3-inch drain tile around the perimeter of the crawlspace which helps to drain the water down the the SuperSump Pump System that was also installed in the crawlspace. There was also a dehumidifier that was put in the crawlspace in order to remove any moisture that wasn't caught by the CleanSpace.
This home in Greenville, SC was experiencing major water issues in their basement. Water was seeping into this basement through the foundation, dripping down the walls and puddling around the perimeter of the basement leaving damage and the risk of molding. The homeowner had already attempted to fix the issue by installing a sump pump, although this method failed. So to fix their water issues they called All-Dry of the Carolinas to help them out!
Our All-Dry team tackled this issue head on using several different methods of our water proofing technology. After cleaning the crawlspace of debris, our team inserted the CleanSpace Liner. CleanSpace is a 20 mil tick liner that is laid across the basement floor and wrapped around walls and piers. This liner works as a barrier to keep moister that is produced from the ground of the basement. In this specific case, the CleanSpace was just placed on the walls; this was to hold in moister that came from the water that dripped down the walls when entering the basement.
This basement in Greenville, SC was having water issues. Water would seep down the walls from ground level and puddle on the floors. These home owners did the right thing by calling All-Dry of the Carolinas. Our All-Dry crew was able to tackle this issue with three of our most used products: WaterGuard, CleanSpace, and the SuperSump Pump.
In the “before” picture you see the corner of the basement before our All-Dry team started installing the WaterGuard and SuperSump Pump. In the “after” picture you are able to see where the WaterGuard has been placed around the perimeter of the basement and the SuperSump Pump.
Homeowner's with exterior access to their basement may recognize this problem, as it is pretty common. When it rains a lot and there is not proper drainage around the home, the water will flow towards the home, carrying debris and clogging the drains. This is an unfortunate problem that many people have to deal with, including this homeowner. Fortunately, we had a solution for them.
The "before" picture shows the area before we had done any work. Both of the drains were filled up with dirt which caused them to be almost completely ineffective. This allowed the water to flow straight into the basement of the home and begin causing problems. This homeowner had been dealing with a damp, scary basement for much too long!
The "after" picture may look similar to the photo before, but a lot has changed between the two. The threshold is actually a little higher, meaning that not as much water can get inside. However, that was only a small piece of the solution. The biggest part is actually what you aren't able to see in the photo. The TrenchDrain is the visible drain on the inside of the door, but it is integrated with a whole drain system that drains to a sump pump. This system has ports installed periodically so that it can be checked for any blockages.
The homeowner was extremely happy having our system installed because it finally gave them a solution to the problem that they had been dealing with for much too long.
