Before & After Photos

There are many different ways that water and moisture are able to get into a crawlspace. Usually the big areas are floor and walls of the crawlspace, but another big one is the door of the crawlspace. This of course depends on the door, but most times, people don't realize that an airtight door is the best option for a crawlspace. Having an airtight door prevents any outside air from getting into the crawlspace.

The "before" picture shows the door to the crawlspace before any work was done. While it may look nice, it definitely is not designed to keep moisture from getting into a crawlspace. The slats of the door give air a perfect entrance into the crawlspace. With air coming into the crawlspace, moisture gets in as well. This is one of the main things that should be prevented when encapsulating a crawlspace. Sealing off the crawlspace entirely is the main goal when encapsulating a crawlspace.

The "after" photo shows off the new EverLast Door that was installed for the homeowner. Not only does the EverLast Door look much better than the previous door, it functions much better. The new door creates an airtight seal when the knobs are tightened down. One way that water vapor can get into the crawlspace is through the door. This is actually pretty common, as many crawlspace doors have gaps around them, which allowing air to flow into the crawlspace where the water vapor will start to condense. Once the water condenses onto different areas in the crawlspace (particularly organic surfaces), mold can begin to grow, which can cause serious problems for the homeowner. 

The "before" picture shows pretty much exactly what was just explained. This certainly was not the worst crawlspace entrance, but we have certainly seen better! As you can see, the top and right-hand side of the door have pretty large gaps, which leaves a lot of room for air to rush in. The EverLast door will be even more effective since this door is almost even with the ground, which means in a flood, water could pretty easily get into the crawlspace.

The "after" picture shows the installed EverLast Door. It may not be as pretty or "rustic" as the old door, but it is certainly more effective at keeping the air out! The EverLast door creates an airtight seal when "shut", which you do by turning the knobs at the upper corners. This was a huge part of this job because it helps to keep the dehumidifier from working as hard because it keeps out unnecessary moisture.

This homeowner was very aware of the dangers that can come from water intrusion under a home. This particular homeowner is a contractor who had used us several times before to waterproof homes that he had worked on before. So when he started to have problems with his own home, he knew exactly who to call. It didn't take much convincing from our System Design Specialist to get this homeowner to agree to get his crawlspace encapsulated.

The "before" photo shows an area under the home before any work was done in the crawlspace. Sometimes water intrusion and moisture issues in a crawlspace can be very subtle, which was the case for this home. There is not always a small river flowing through the crawlspace or a completely flooded basement. Often, these can cause more damage because they are much less noticeable. 

The "after" picture tells a much different story even though it is the same place as the first photo. Having the CleanSpace installed completely changes the look of the crawlspace. Not only does it make the area look better but, more importantly, it keeps moisture from getting into the crawlspace. A dehumidifier was also installed to keep the humidity level of the crawlspace under 55%, which is around the level that mold is able to grow. 

This homeowner in Moore, South Carolina, called All-Dry of the Carolinas to freshen up the situation that was happening in their crawlspace. In every situation, All-Dry of the Carolinas’ team takes the time to teach homeowners about the dangers of what a wet or damp crawl space can do to your home. This family chose to have their crawlspace encapsulated to prevent damage that could potentially occur if not treated. With the help of our Design Specialist, the homeowners were able to protect their home by installing a SuperSump pump, a CleanSpace Liner, and drainage matting.  

The “before” photo shows an incomplete wall that was splitting the crawlspace. As you can see, insulation had began to deteriorate and sag which is a sign of moisture in the crawlspace. Although it looks like an awkward area to work around, it didn’t slow down All-Dry of the Carolinas’ team at all!

The “after” photo shows a completely wrapped wall in CleanSpace Liner. The insulation issue has been resolved, along with the threat of potential damage to the space. The SuperSump pump, CleanSpace Liner, and drainage matting that have been installed provides the crawlspace protection from moisture along with decreasing heating and cooling cost of the home!

Waterproofing your crawlspace is extremely important. Taking the time to actually call and get some professionals out is also important. No one thinks that when they first buy a home that they’ll be having issues from the very beginning. No one believes that, but when you have a dirt crawlspace it’s certainly possible.

 CleanSpace is one of the more widely used products we have. As shown here, it is installed along a dirt floor and sealed. Unlike many other liners, this CleanSpace is 20 mils thick and mold resistant. It’ really the ultimate companion for a problematic crawlspace.
