This Brentwood home had attic insulation as required. However, not enough to actually keep the home or family comfortable.

Cleaning up the previous insulation, air sealing leaks and adding blown-in cellulose made all the difference for this family.

This Tennessee homeowner had an excessive moisture problem in his crawl space. He called us Frontier Basement Systems to encapsulate his space. While our inspector was inspecting the home, the homeowner had him do a radon test, just to make sure everything was safe. 

If a radon test shows that your home has radon levels around or above 4pCi/l (4 picocuries per liter), it’s important to have a radon mitigation system installed by a professional radon contractor. Without radon mitigation, family members will be exposed to potentially lethal levels of radioactivity in the form of invisible, odorless radon gas.

Health experts sometimes refer to radon as the silent killer, and for good reason. Radon is a naturally-occurring radioactive gas that is emitted from rocks and soil. Radon can be found anywhere on earth, and radon emissions vary based on local geography. Radon can easily enter a building through cracks and gaps in the foundation, mixing with the interior air you breathe every day.

Impossible to see or smell, radon gas can cause cellular changes in lung tissue that eventually lead to lung cancer. Radon exposure is the leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. It kills about 21,000 people in the U.S. every year.

They had radon levels above 4pCi/l, so along with their crawl space encapsulation, they had the Radon Mitigation System installed. 

Next to the system is their new and improved EverLast Door. It is made from ½-in.-thick PVC plastic that is just about indestructible (So, it will never crack, warp, rust, or mold!) It also has a moisture and air tight seal to ensure no critters or cold winter air find their way into your crawl space!
