A homeowner near Copper Hill, VA called Fortress Foundation Solutions after finding mold in their crawl space! The air from the crawl space does flow up and into the home - we call it the 'Stack Effect'. System Designer Caleb Stone, met with the homeowner and explained how air from your crawlspace enters your home along with everything in it - odors, and mold spores and dust mite feces. Air, often filled with more moisture, gets sucked into the crawlspace from the outdoors. In this sense, a poorly designed crawl space acts like a bad air machine! To stop the nasty cycle, this homeowner was ready to get an encapsulation. Foreman Travis Farmer and his crew, installed the SilverGlo insulation, CleanSpace vapor barrier and a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. These work together to keep the crawl space dry and the air humidity low. Now this crawl space is only sending clean, moisture controlled air up into the home.

This homeowner called Fortress Foundation Solutions because they were receiving water coming in through the walls in their crawlspace. Our sales team was able to give this customer a permanent solution for this problem. We installed our CleanSpace liner as well as our Smart Sump to ensure they would no longer receive anymore water.

Our CleanSpace liners are vapor barriers specifically designed to keep out moisture and humidity. We installed our Smart Sump to collect any water that may accumulate. 

This dirty crawlspace in Salem suffered repeated flooding that caused mold and mildew. Fortress solved this by installing a CleanSpace Encapsulation with a SmartSump System to ensure that the crawlspace will stay clean and dry.

Peggy had previously encapsulated her crawl space with Fortress Foundation Solutions but chose to wait on adding a drainage system and sump pump. A few years later, she decided to complete the project and add the extra protection needed to better manage water beneath her Salem home.

Scott and his crew carefully removed sections of the existing CleanSpace® liner and installed an EZ Flow drainage system along with a TripleSafe™ sump pump. Once the new components were in place, the liner was reinstalled to maintain the integrity of the encapsulation system. As shown in the after photos, Peggy's crawl space now has enhanced protection against water intrusion and a more complete moisture management solution.

This crawlspce in Bent Mountain had water pooling and falling insulation. Fortress cleaned up the insulation and installed a SmartSump system to keep the crawlspace from flooding.
