Insulating a New Garage Build in Bath, Maine

We recently completed insulating a brand new large garage build in Bath, Maine. We installed rockwool insulation on the garage walls, which is a great alternative to traditional fiberglass insulation. Rockwool is fire resistant, as well as water and mold resistant, whereas fiberglass insulation can absorb water, keeping it damp and primed for mold growth. Rockwool is also very durable and does not sag or settle like fiberglass insulation will. On the ceiling we used Spray Foam insulation to ensure all of the nooks and crannies were air tight. Spray Foam provides immediate energy savings and improvement.

Arrowsic, ME Homeowner Tired of Moisture in Their Crawl Space

This Arrowsic, ME, homeowner has lived in the home for over 30 years and has always had to deal with moisture in their crawl space. They noticed the problem getting worse in recent years, which raised their concerns about the issue. High moisture and humidity in a crawl space will lead to mold growth and eventually wood rot. Ready to take care of the issue and protect their home from damage, the homeowner booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Nima Farshid met with the homeowner and worked with them to design an encapsulation system that would keep the basement dry and protect the health of the home.

To fully encapsulate the crawl space, CleanSpace and Drainage Matting was installed to create an inorganic vapor barrier. Drainage Matting is a durable dimpled matting that is laid on the ground to create a gap between the dirt and CleanSpace. CleanSpace is constructed of a durable, 20-mil-thick, 7-layer polyethylene composition that’s reinforced by polyester cord. CleanSpace reduces moisture and humidity in the crawl space and helps to seal the area against cold drafts in the winter. CleanSpace bright white design helps to reflect light and illuminate the crawl space more, creating a perfect area for storage where the homeowners belongings will be safe. Now that the crawl space is fully encapsulated, the home is protected against moisture and mold and the homeowner can live in their home without having to be worried about their crawl space causing them anymore issues.
