Problem: This tight and musty area under the home was starting to cause mould growth on the wood supports. Wood is everywhere inside a home and if it begins to rot due to high humidity and moisture, it can be a very costly repiar. We needed to get to work here right away!
Solution: We cleaned out all the debris of this small space. Then we installed our Clean Space Encapsulation System (the white liner). Once that was installed, our crew came in and spray foam insulated the headers (above the foundation wall where a lot of air leaks get in). The space is now safe and healthy.

The homeowner approached Advanced Basement Systems during the Windsor Home Show to discuss issues with the crawl space. His home is built with a concrete block foundation wall, dirt crawl space floor and sporadic insulation throughout the area. Access to the space is through an exterior hatch cover with ½ inch plywood. His main concerns are the cold floors and humidity in the house.
Advanced Basement Systems inspected the home and provided the fix required to alleviate the home owner’s concerns. Clean Space encapsulation was installed to provide a moisture barrier over the dirt floor. Spray Foam insulation was added on the exterior walls and into the headers to provide insulation in the area. A proper access hatch was included to seal the area from the outside and allow easy access when needed. The last item was a thermal barrier over the spray foam in the form of DC315, a paint-based spray the meets building code requirements because of heating ducts in the area.
Advanced Basement Systems provides home owners in London, Chatham, Windsor, Sarnia and surrounding areas the repairs they need to fix crawl space problems!
We upgraded the access door and well of this Windsor, ON dirt crawl space home! We also fully encapsulated and insulated the crawl space. Nice work Paul and crew!
Problem: This home had a crawl space that was damp and musty. This undesirable crawl space air makes its way throughout the entire house in what’s known as the Stack Effect. The moist environment caused the fiberglass insulation to become ineffectual and saturated with water. These homeowners also needed some help with debris removal.
Solution: We encapsulated the damp dirt floor with our heavy duty CleanSpace crawl space vapour barrier liner (strong enough to walk on and store items upon!). Our team also added mould and mildew proof SprayFoam Insulation (inorganic; therefore, mould and mildew resistant) to help the home be more energy efficient.

Problem: These homeowners were experiencing a problem prevalent in homes that have an open dirt floor crawl space:
- High humidity, resulting in a musty smelling home
- Cold floors in the winter
- High heating and cooling bills as they were continually heating and cooling the outdoor air which was making its way into the crawl space.
Solution: We sealed off the crawl space, encapsulating it with our Clean Space® Vapour Barrier, including the support columns. We sealed the exterior vents and added Spray Foam Insulation to the exterior walls.
