Before: This dirt crawl space had standing water, musty odours, and poor insulation—making the home less healthy and less efficient.
After: With full encapsulation, drainage, a new sump pump, and insulation installed, the crawl space is now dry, clean, and healthy. The homeowner not only gained protection for their home but also a bright, usable storage area.
Before
The home was built with a dirt floor crawl space and sporadic insulation throughout. Moisture and water will seep into the area which allows high level of humidity for mould growth. The HVAC system was located in the cool damp crawl space which made the system work more often to control the comfort in the upper levels.
After
Advanced Basement Systems installed their Clean Space encapsulation material along with spray foam insulation on the exterior walls to keep the space dry and warm all year. When using spray foam insulation in an area that contains a combustion furnace or hot water heater, it must have a thermal barrier included. A special paint-product was used over the spray foam to meet current building codes for safety of the home.

This crawl space had no perimeter wall insulation nor any humidity control. We encapsulated the dirt floor, isolating the home from the earth. From there, we installed a sump pump and back-up system to capture groundwater from the footing drain. Then, our Sani Dry Air System was placed to take care of conditioning the air.
Finally, our spray foam crew sealed all outside air leaks with closed cell insulation on the walls and up into the headers. Great job team!
Problem: This crawl space needed help! All of the incorrectly installed insulation is falling everywhere. The damp earth is causing wood-rot and energy loss is high.
Solution: We cleaned out all the old insulation and debris. Then, we encapsulated the earth with our CleanSpace product which gives the space a beautiful white finish. At the end, we insulated the walls with spray foam. What a transformation!

Problem: This dirt floor crawl space is allowing moisture into the home constantly with the earth being exposed. The humidity is high and there are odours in the main level of the home.
Solution: By installing an encapsulation system (moisture barrier) we can isolate the home from the earth. We also want to seal off all outside air. This space was also dehumidified to condition the air.
