I had a 1950s house with a sump pit and pump that was undersized. After a sump overflow and trying with several plumbing services (with limited success) to bring it up to modern standards I contacted Omni Basement Systems that specialize solving basement water issues. They dug and installed a new sump, pump and back up system. The workmen were professional and they left the site as clean as when they arrived. I had exactly the same experience when I had a sewage backwater valve installed recently. An improvement would be to have the sump pump high water and backup alarm systems send out a message by wifi. The audible alarms don't do any good when you aren't home to hear them. I have several other devices from wall plug timers to my Nest thermostat that message my phone when something is wrong so the technology exists, is inexpensive, with no need to have a home alarm system installed or anything.

Omni Basements did an excellent job explaining, tearing down and installing their French Drain system for our entire basement. Our basement had leaks in it since we purchased the house. The previous owner did a couple patches inside the house and had installed some membrane material on the outside of the foundation. However, water always finds a way to get in. Recently we noticed water entering into our basement at a rate we were unable to manage. Thankfully our basement wasn’t professionally finished and there was no finished floor.    Gord’s crew came into the house, and in one day his crew took all our wall materials down. They started out by taping up a see-through plastic curtain around our piled up stuff in our basement. That significantly reduced dust on our stuff. When he encountered something that needed my attention, he contacted me to inform me of the issue. Sometimes it was about informing me of things he discovered behind the walls, and sometimes he had to ask me about how he would like them to proceed. We had a drop ceiling, which added some extra complexities. A professionally finished basement would likely have less issues.   Andrew’s crew took that allowed 4 days to jack hammer out the basement areas needed to install the drain. The noise was minimal and my neighbours were not upset with the noise. Surprisingly there was only dust in the basement and there was also a small amount that “wafted” up the stairs to just a small localized area on the main floor. I visited the basement a couple times each day to see how things were going and Andrew was always available to discuss their progress and he also mentioned things that I might want to know. Once completed, they swept up all the dust and garbage. It looked like they were never there. Andrew expertly explained how the drains work, how to manage the system and things to look out for. He also explained the warranty. One exceptionally great thing Andrew did was, he ensured that someone from his crew was always at my house when I wasn’t home. I had to step out a few times during the 4 days, and one time I left at a time when his crew was going out for lunch, so he left one of his crew members at my house to ensure the security of my house. That was very considerate of him.   Both crews were personable and easy to work with. Lines of communication were always open. Overall I am very pleased with the final product. I would definitely hire this company if I buy a house with a leaky basement.

This whole experience was positive. I dropped in at a neighbor's home and saw the work, spoke with Alfredo, telephoned for a salesman to come. Office staff always helpful and patient. If all crews and staff are as good as the ones we dealt with, you will soon be, if not already, number one in basement waterproofing. Today and last night we had 5 inches of rain and the basement and crawlspace remained dry! Wonderful! We should have done this sooner! We have and will continue to recommend this company to all our friends and neighbors.
