Kyle M. of Savage, MD had some air conditioning issues. While in the crawl space, he noticed the vines growing around his HVAC unit, mold and musty smells. Knowing he needed help, he called Fortress Foundation Solutions. Our System Designer Skylar Beverage inspected his crawl space and provided a free estimate for an encapsulation. An encapsulation would include drainage matting, CleanSpace vapor barrier and a SaniDry Sedona. The CleanSpace seals the ground from the house, keeping moisture and water away from the wood joists. Our SaniDry Sedona is a cutting-edge basement dehumidifier rated for energy efficiency and powerful enough to keep dry air circulating throughout a 3000 square foot area. The Sedona will ensure your crawl space is protected from excess moisture that can lead to mold growth, wood rot and odors, ensuring a dry, clean space. Now Kyle knows his crawl space won't be growing any more plants or fungus. He has protected his biggest investment - his home!
Jim E. of Jessup, MD, called Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing musty smells coming from his crawl space. After investigating, he discovered pooling water and falling down, moisture-saturated insulation. System Designer Riley Ethier met with Jim, inspected his crawl space and provided a free estimate for an EZ FLow Drainage System, a Smart Sump Sump Pump, SilverGlo insulation, CleanSpace Vapor Barrier and a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. After speaking with Riley, Jim learned that the air in the crawl space flows upward into the home. He didn't want that musty, moldy air getting into his home and decided to move forward.
Soon foreman Ethan and his crew were onsite. They began by removing the old falling-down insulation. Next, they installed the EZFlow drainage that channels all water into the Super Sump Sump Pump. For insulation, SilverGlo was put up on the walls. Drainage matting and CleanSpace Vapor Barrier were put down sealing off the ground from the home, reducing moisture. The final step, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was added. It removes excess moisture from the air keeping mold, mildew and wood rot from forming. Now Jim knows the air flowing into his home is clean and healthy and his home is protected!
In Roanoke, Daniel had begun noticing signs of foundation settlement throughout his home. Cracks were starting to appear, and sections of the structure no longer felt level, indicating movement beneath the foundation. Concerned the problem would continue to worsen, he contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions for a professional inspection.
After evaluating the home, we determined that foundation settlement was causing the structural issues. To stabilize the home and help prevent further movement, Toby and his crew installed eight Helical Piers around the affected areas of the foundation.
These piers are designed to transfer the weight of the home to deeper, more stable soil, providing long-term structural support and foundation stability. As shown in the after photos, the home is now properly reinforced and protected from continued settlement, giving Daniel confidence that his foundation is secure for the future.
A commercial property owner in Roanoke was dealing with a seriously compromised retaining wall supporting a parking lot. Over time, pressure from the soil behind the wall had caused noticeable movement and instability, creating concerns about the long-term safety and reliability of the structure above. With the retaining wall responsible for supporting a heavily used parking area, it was important to address the issue before the damage became more severe.
After evaluating the retaining wall, our team determined that permanent stabilization was needed to stop further movement and reinforce the structure. To secure the wall, we installed 14 GeoLock™ Wall Anchors along the affected section of the retaining wall.
GeoLock™ Wall Anchors are designed to stabilize failing walls by extending into stable soil beyond the pressure zone and permanently anchoring the structure in place. This system helped counteract the outside soil pressure while restoring strength and stability to the retaining wall supporting the parking lot.
Mr. Jones was dealing with significant foundation settlement issues at his Collinsville home. During our inspection, we found severe movement that was compromising the stability of the foundation and required immediate attention to prevent further damage.
To permanently stabilize the home, Toby and his crew installed 13 Push Piers around the foundation. These piers provide deep, stable support and help prevent additional settlement. You can see in the after photo, the foundation is now reinforced and protected, giving Mr. Jones confidence that his home has long-term structural support in place.
