The Owners of this family home down in Gilbert, Arizona, were facing some serious settlement problems in many rooms of the house. The process started with precise non-parallel cuts along the cracked areas of the foundation. Then, super high-strength carbon fiber laminates were installed into the cuts to bridge the cracks. Following the installation, low-viscosity polyurea was injected into and around the cracks to secure the carbon fiber and reinforce the structure.

The final step involved smoothing and grinding the repaired area for a polished finish. The entire process was quick, minimally disruptive, and more cost-effective than traditional methods, ensuring the foundation was stronger than before.

The rebar in the concrete stem wall along certain sides of the home has begun to rust. This has caused the rebar to deteriorate and the iron oxide to expand. The expansion from the iron oxide generates enough pressure to crack the stem wall. The corrosion of the bar has to typically exceed 20% before there is enough pressure to crack the concrete stem wall. This issue should be dealt with properly to prevent the corrosion from spreading down the perimeter of the rebar and to return the original strength and span capacity to the stem wall.
