This homeowner in Windsor, CT wanted to reduce drafts and humidity in the basement.  Rim joists are often uninsulated which allows cold dry air to enter the home in the winter and warm humid air to enter in the summer.  Our team used our closed-cell polyurethane spray foam insulation to air seal and insulate the rim joist.  Our spray foam has an insulation value of R7 per inch.  The foam expands ensuring all cracks and gaps are sealed to prevent outside air from entering.  The homeowner will have warmer floors, their home will be more comfortable and easier to heat and cool.

Stopping air leakage at the top of the house is a priority when it comes to making a home more comfortable.  Can lights are holes in the ceiling which allow air to leak into the attic between the fixture and the drywall.  Air leaks through the fixture itself due to the many holes and seams in it.  Most can lights are not rated to have insulation against them because of the fire hazard when the fixture gets hot.  

We installed our Dr. Energy Saver TiteShell can light covers.  We used our expanding foam to make these lights air tight.  These covers are safe from the fire hazards of hot bulbs and fixtures allowing cellulose insulation to be blown into the attic.

Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, air will no longer leak through this can light, and we can now safely blow in our cellulose around it.

This home owner in Windsor, CT had called us to come out to her home and check out her basement. One thing that we have to know when dealing with basements is that this area of the house is where a lot of air infiltration occurs. Due to the rim joist not being insulated or air sealed, she definitely had a problem. To fix this, our crew went down there and sprayed the rim joist with a 2-part expanding poly foam.
