Pressure from soil can cause damage to foundation walls over time and cause them to tilt, bow and crack. In Rose Ann H.’s case, the garage of her Moscow Mill, MO home was partially underground. The earth on the outside of the wall shown in the before picture had put pressure on it and caused it to tilt in at the top and form cracks on the ceiling of her garage so she called Woods Basement Systems. Woods recommended installing Geo-Lock Wall Anchors.

Geo-Lock Wall Anchors counteract the soil pressure by embedding earth anchors in more stable soil in the yard and connecting them to steel wall plates in the inside of the walls shown in the after picture, using steel anchor rods. The anchor rods are tightened to permanently stabilize the walls and prevent future tilting and damage. The anchor rods can also be tightened during dry weather conditions for the opportunity to straighten the wall. 

Donna B was concerned when she noticed that her basement walls were beginning to bow. So, she decided to call Woods Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Brandon B was able to come up with a solution to the problem. 

Foreman Bradly P installed a Geo-Lock Wall Anchor, shown above, in Donna’s basement. The Wall Anchor has two ends, one will attach to stable soil away from the house the other end will attach to the basement walls. The device can be tightened and overtime will straighten the walls.

This Gray Summit, Missouri home's concrete-block basement walls were badly cracked and slightly bowing in places. The homeowner was quite concerned about this and worried that letting the cracks go unaddressed for much longer might lead to a total wall collapse. A team installed several GeoLock wall anchors, supports that function by attaching anchors buried deep in the firm soil far from the home to steel plates on the interior surface of the foundation walls, throughout the space. These anchors effectively pull the walls outward over time and totally prevent further movement and cracking.
