Here, you can see a nasty, old vapor barrier that has torn and become covered in mold.  Not only that, but the barrier itself has pulled away from the walls and wrinkled up to the point that it is not functional.  The homeowners noticed that their mold problem had reoccurred and that the relative humidity in the crawlspace was still too high.  They opted to contact Healthy Spaces and have a free estimate performed.  During the estimate and evaluation process, the homeowners elected to have CleanSpace engineered film installed because of its great warranty and durability.  Now, they have isolated their crawlspace from the outside air, reduced their overall relative humidity, and created a conditioned crawlspace.  All in all, they have been impressed by lower heating and cooling bills, a more comfortable home, and a brighter, cleaner crawlspace!

In Evansville, IN, the homeowner needed an updated and tightly sealed access door. Many crawl spaces have access wells from the outside. Some access doors are made of plywood, which is not recommended because since it is close to the ground, it will rot. If it is made of plywood, bugs will eat at it and weathering will cause the plywood to warp. If the access door is outside, it is suggested to have an inorganic material to cover the space rather than organic.

The water leakage culprit was poorly tightened and sealed access wells that were located outside of the crawl space. The access wells were repaired by putting new covers to keep out any water or outside air. CleanSpace, which is a 20 mil, bright white liner, that is laid across the crawl space floor to provide a vapor barrier for the space. The liner prevents air and water from entering the atmosphere of the crawl space, which will resolve the standing water issue. A big rainstorm in Vincennes, IN, left one family's crawl space flooded. The family explained that they have needed to treat their crawl space for a while now, but had not gotten around to it.
