The sturdy 20-mil liner, reinforced and antimicrobial-treated, transformed the dank space into a dry and stable foundation. A property manager in Bar Harbor, Maine was interested in learning more about vapor barriers and how it might help their crawl space. System Design Specialist Craig Z. met with the property manager to assess the space and provide recommendations. We installed our CleanSpace vapor barrier with drainage matting, which seals water out of the crawl space. To help mitigate moisture, we also installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. The SaniDry Sedona can handle removing 100 pints of water from the air per day, ensuring the humidity is at a healthy level. A SmartSump pump is in place to pump groundwater away from the home through an exterior buried discharge line.

Drainage Matting was laid down to create a gap that allows water to be channeled to the sump pump and works to protect the CleanSpace. CleanSpace was installed on top of the Drainage Matting and was attached to the crawl space walls to seal up the area. CleanSpace is a durable vapor barrier that keeps moisture and critters out, reducing mold and creating the perfect space for storage. A Sump Liner was installed so a sump can be added in the future if needed without having to modify the encapsulation system. Finally, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed, and with the addition of a Condensate Pump, the homeowner never has to go into the basement to empty a bucket and the humidity will be kept at a safe level year-round. The home is now fully protected against moisture, and the homeowner will no longer have to worry about mold-causing issues in their summer home.
