Our service technician Nick DeCosta was on an annual maintenance visit in Raynham and came across this pump that needed a lot of attention from DryZone! The property in Raynham has an iron ochre problem. The orange, rust colored slim all over the pump forms from the iron bacteria. Nick rinsed and cleaned the pump and performed annual maintenance on the system.
DryZone Basement Systems recently installed a CleanSpace encapsulation system in Quincy, MA. This crawl space had a dirt floor and was constantly allowing damp, moist air into the crawlspace and up through the home. The CleanSpace Encapsulation System, along with the SaniDry CSB crawlspace dehumidifier will keep this crawlspace dry for years to come!
This is a prime example why it is so important to continue checking your system. We recommend at least once a year but in some cases more frequent appointments may be needed. Iron ochre is a waste byproduct of iron bacteria and occurs naturally in the soil across the world. This orange 'goop' is iron ochre and it can clog a system (think of it like cholesterol clogging an artery).
