Failing Crawl Space Insulation & Vapor Barrier Replaced in Port Huron, MI

Shockingly, most of the air you breath in your home actually comes up from your crawl space - so if the crawl space is cold, musty and moldy - so is your home.

This Port Huron homeowner, Veteran and first responder contacted HomeSpec because his crawl space insulation and vapor barrier were old and torn up, causing moisture and cold air to enter and wreak havoc. Project Manager Ben Gabowitz found a solution to solve this issue - crawl space encapsulation

Foreman Jon Davis and his crew sealed the exposed dirt floor and block walls with a CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier. This blocks moisture and humidity from entering. Then they used the SilverGlo Rigid Foam Insulation to create an airtight seal - preventing cold air from entering and flowing into the rest of the home. Lastly, they sealed the broken vents with CleanSpace® vent covers.

CleanSpace Installed in Crawl Space Located in Port Huron, MI

A homeowner from Port Huron, MI, has owned their home for over 10 years. They plan for it to be their forever home but would like to address the existing problems. They contacted HomeSpec for help with their crawl space. They had been experiencing water leakage and sagging floors, which also created a musty smell they wanted to eliminate. HomeSpec, confident they could help, sent senior project manager Zach to inspect the home.

Zach performed a thorough evaluation, confirming both the water intrusion and sagging floors. He identified that the musty smell was coming from the crawl space due to the water leaks. Zach then created a repair plan and proposed it to the homeowners. He suggested starting by installing the SmartPipe™ Crawl Space Drainage System. This would collect unwanted water and direct it to the sump pump, eliminating standing water in the crawl space. Next, he recommended installing the SmartJack® Crawl Space Support System to provide durable support to the sagging floors. To finish the job, Zach proposed adding a clean, lasting finish with CleanSpace® Crawl Space Encapsulation. This would protect the crawl space while also helping to eliminate the musty odors. Once the homeowners agreed to the repair plan, a team from HomeSpec quickly got to work. When the job was complete, the homeowners were glad to have a clean, worry-free, and properly supported crawl space.
