Paul and Maryjo in Beverly Hills, Michigan contacted HomeSpec to repair their heavily damaged basement walls. The concrete block walls walls were cracked, broken and bowing – and even leaking water into the basement. 

To address these issues, foreman Vernon Bryan and his crew needed to stabilize the walls. They excavated the walls, pushed them back into place, and then waterproofed the exterior of the foundation. On the interior, the PowerBrace Wall Repair System was installed to stabilize the walls and prevent further movement. The cracks were all filled and sealed as well.

A homeowner in Dearborn, MI noticed that water was getting into the basement during heavy rains. The homeowner wanted to prevent any further water intrusion from occurring year-round and called HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair to see what options were available.

HomeSpec’s senior project manager, Keith, visited the home for an inspection. After looking both inside and outside of the home and speaking with the homeowner, Keith made some recommendations. This home was built using a block foundation and had tile flooring on top of concrete. To waterproof this type of space thoroughly, it is important to protect both the walls and the floor. A homeowner in Fowlerville, MI discovered that the waterproofing system in their basement had failed and was not installed correctly. An interior drainage system was installed with some adjustments due to the presence of iron algae. The IDS was then connected to a TripleSafe™ sump pump and sump discharge. A Hudson, MI homeowner saw that there was water coming through the vertical cracks of their basement walls. Spring is by far the worst time for basements and below-grade spaces. First the snow melts at the end of winter and the soil around foundations becomes waterlogged, and then it rains for several months straight. Our team installed an interior drainage system to waterproof the basement. This system collects the water before it can leak in, and deposits it into the sump pump. The sump pump can then direct the water up and away from the home to prevent water intrusion.
