To be honest, wet basements are annoying for everyone. Whether your basement is fully finished or simply a storage room - no one wants water seeping in and causing damage. These East China homeowners used their basement for the latter - they stored old furniture and boxes of belongings, and only ventured downstairs to do the laundry once a week.
For years though, water was seeping into the basement at the joint where the floor and the walls meet. Sometimes they'd even find cardboard boxes sitting in a puddle of water. After years of dealing with this headache, they finally decided to contact HomeSpec to look into their options.
Our specialist recommended an interior drainage system to waterproof the basement. Since the water was entering around the perimeter of the basement, this system is the best option. It would collect the water before it seeps into the basement and direct it to the sump pump, which would then expel the water away from the home.
The homeowners are very happy with the results, and reported no leaks even after many heavy rains!
This son contacted HomeSpec because his 94-year-old mother was experiencing water issues in the lowest level of her quad-level home.
Water was seeping into the home's lower level at the joint where the floor and the wall meet. To solve this problem, HomeSpec installed an interior drainage system. This system is installed around the perimeter, preventing water from getting into the home.
We also installed a grate drain outside of the lower-level door since it's below grade. This will prevent water from pooling at the door and leaking into the home!
Egress windows come with a ton of benefits - from all the natural light they allow into basements, to the emergency exit they provide to keep your family safe. But without a proper window well and drainage, they are very susceptible to leaking. That's why this Marysville homeowner contacted HomeSpec.
JoAnn's window well was leaking for two main reasons: 1) water was pooling in the well because of inadequate drainage and 2) absence of a window well cover to keep out water.
To solve this problem, HomeSpec replaced the old wooden well with our Rockwell window well with proper drainage. We also installed a cover to keep out water and debris!
A homeowner in Pinckney, MI noticed a few vertical cracks in their foundation walls that had water seeping through. Before things could escalate, they began looking for help. They called HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair to conduct an inspection. The senior project manager, Keith, recommended repairs that would fill in the cracks where the water is leaking through and then seal the cracks themselves. The crew would use high pressure urethane injections for this type of repair. The homeowner was happy to hear of this option and decided HomeSpec was the company to take care of their home.
A homeowner in Manitou Beach, MI noticed that one corner of their home was sloping. It had reached a point where they knew professional intervention was necessary. The homeowner called HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for help. A senior project manager, Ben, performed an inspection and discussed some options with the homeowner.
The homeowner liked the plan that involved repairing the settlement issue from within the crawl space. Ben explained that a SmartJack® support system and supplemental beams would be installed and follow a lift procedure to return the floor to a level position. The repairs were done by a crew led by foreman Jon.
