Our Foreman, Jose Castillo, and his production team was able to successfully waterproof their basement by installing 158 feet of our WaterGuard drainage system, our SuperSump sump pump, and our recommended SaniDry dehumidifier to control the humidity. A homeowner in Sheldon, WI, noticed their basement was suffering from water damage. When the installation date arrived, our Foreman, Jose, and his crew traveled to the home to begin. First, Jose and his crew started by securing WaterGuard along the basement perimeter. Once the WaterGuard was secured, the crew shifted to taking out the old sump pump and replacing it with the TripleSafe. Next, the crew attached PowerBraces to the struggling foundation walls, then completed the project with CleanSpace. The homeowner was relieved to know their basement was no longer at risk. Mark S. in New Lisbon, WI had a dirt crawlspace under his home. Moisture was the main concern and was leading to air quality concerns in the living space. The exposed soil was also a significant heat loss concern. He started looking into crawl space encapsulation and contacted American Waterworks for a FREE estimate. We sent one of our Design Specialists, Rick Weber, to evaluate the situation and propose a unique solution to fit Mark’s needs. 

Our Foreman, Jesus Covarrubias, and his production crew began the project by removing the debris from the crawl space. Then, drainage matting was placed on the dirt soil, and Terra Block insulation was place on top to create a thermal barrier. Next, the crew installed the rim joist insulation, Cleanspace vapor barrier on the floor, and Foamax wall insulation on the walls to create an airtight barrier between the soil below and the building materials. Mark is glad he chose a long-term solution to protect his home from the consequences that typically come with having a dirt crawl space.

He explained to the homeowner that one of the most common causes of foundation damage is hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure is the pressure exerted by fluid. When the soil surrounding the foundation gets saturated with water, it puts tremendous pressure on the walls. Once the pressure exceeds what the wall can withstand, it is common to see bowing, sheeting, and cracks in the foundation walls. Due to this reason, Daniel recommended our PowerBrace. He explained to the homeowner that our PowerBrace is installed by first cutting the braces so that it fits the height of the wall. Then, the top of the brace is attached to a floor joist at the top of the wall. The crew would then straighten the brace and attach it to the floor. Alongside stabilizing the foundation walls, our PowerBrace has the potential to straighten the walls over time. The homeowner was grateful for Daniel's explanation and agreed to his suggestion. Daniel's plans were then sent to our Foreman, Diego B., for the installation. 

In a couple of months, Diego and his crew arrived at the home. They installed a total of three of our PowerBrace. Once they were done with the project, they cleaned up their equipment and left the home.
