Before diving into our project in Salem, MA, the homeowner struggled with cold floors and a notorious musty smell emerging from their crawl space. Noticing the before photo, the underbelly of a home in distress is evident. Fast forward to our solution—SilverGlow insulation paired with CleanSpace liner transformed their predicament. As shown in the after photo, what was once a concern is now a clean, sealed, and efficiently insulated space. A homeowner in Swampscott, Massachusetts, had an odor in their crawlspace that would come into the home when the homeowners would turn on the fan in the bathroom. The odor would take over the entire home. The homeowners called EFS for a free inspection of their home and recommended encapsulating the entire crawlspace with CleanSpace and then installing a SaniDry dehumidifier into the crawlspace. The system will prevent moisture and odor from penetrating the crawlspace and then being spread around the home by the bathroom fan. 

This homeowner in Acton, Massachusetts was experiencing a large crack in his brick foundation wall. The homeowner travels for business and doesn't want to worry about the problem getting worse when he is away. He decided to call EFS for a free inspection. 

Design Specialist Michael LaMalfa inspected the interior and exterior of the home. Michael confirmed that there is a large crack on the brick foundation wall. Michael explained to the homeowner that a crack this size on a brick or block foundation wall can diminish the integrity of the wall. Michael recommended demolishing the cracked wall and building a new block foundation wall. 

A homeowner in Newburyport, Massachusetts had her mother moving into the home and wanted to take the proper precautions to make sure she was safe. With a radon system already installed, they were still skeptical that the system was working as intended. In search of peace of mind, they reached out to Erickson Foundation Solutions.

Our Design Specialist, George Gouthier, performed a free home inspection. After thoroughly observing all the different areas of the home, George recommended installing CleanSpace in the crawl space and filling in the open trenched area in the basement. By installing our CleanSpace encapsulation system, moisture is kept out of the crawl space. This prevents mold, wood rot, critters, and more! If there are musty smells or cold floors in the home, CleanSpace can alleviate these issues. After our installation crew installed the encapsulation system, they concreted the open trenched area in the basement. By sealing the area that allowed air to enter the basement through the ground, radon is a lot less likely to be an issue, especially with an already working radon system.

With the work done to the foundation and crawl space, the entire home benefits from it. The homeowner and her mother will now live in a more safe and comfortable living space.
