This homeowner in Brick, NJ was mowing his lawn one warm, sunny morning when all of a sudden, he was attacked and stung by several yellow jackets! Fortunately, he was a Home Protection Plan customer, so he stopped what he doing and called Cowleys for help.
When we arrived, we equipped our protective bee suits and began inspecting the area where the owner was attacked. Several moments into our inspection, we found a large yellow jackets nest in the bushes! They were expertly hidden and the owner, nor his family, had any idea they were there!
So we injected a residual aerosol application into the nest, waited a few moments, and then injected a residual dusting product. These treatments exterminate the yellow jackets quickly. A few moments later, we removed the nest & the branch it was attached to and disposed of them properly.
Previously, this customer in Brick, NJ had bats in her attic. They were able to get into that area by squeezing through the gable vents. After installing our retrieval devices, we safely removed all the bats from the property.
After removing all the bat guano out of the attic and disinfecting the area, we removed the old gable vents (since they were damaged) and replaced them with a louvered vent guard. A louvered vent guard is made out of heavy-duty Galvannealed steel, which means it won't rust, and is customized to accommodate vents of all shapes and sizes! The best part is that it properly secures the gable vents from any future intrusions from bats, birds, pests, and all nuisance wildlife!
This customer in Brick, NJ had a major problem. Sparrows were roosting throughout his outdoor patio and pooping all over it! Fed up with this problem he contacted Bird Solutions by Cowleys and we were sent out to assist with this bird problem.
First, we safely removed all the nesting debris, took down all of the old hardware cloth that the owner had installed, and disinfected the entire patio with a solution that targets and eliminates bird mites. Bird mites are parasites that feed on the blood of birds. When birds leave their nests, the mites are left behind without a suitable host for their next blood meal, so they will make their way into a home and start feeding on the family and pets! What's even scarier is that bird mites are tiny and semi-transparent, so they are extremely difficult to detect!
Lastly, we installed bird netting throughout the patio. In order make sure the bird netting is secured, we're using a stainless steel cable with net spikes and are anchoring it into the walls. We then locked the cables in place using copper ferrules and then installed turnbuckles which tighten the cable. Bird netting is a 3/4 inch, heavy duty polyethylene bird netting that's used to humanely block the sparrows from entering any unwanted areas. It creates an impenetrable barrier that denies the sparrows, as well as all nuisance birds, the access to the patio and removes the landing areas for them.
The sparrows will fly around, realize they can't enter, and move on. We also added a zipper to the area to provide easy access for the owner. As an added bonus, the bird netting is almost invisible, unless you take a real close look at it. Now all nuisance birds will no longer be able to roost in the patio.
We're returning to this business in Eatontown, NJ to check up on the mice activity in the basement. As we inspected our rodent bait stations, we did find some activity in a number of them. So we replenished the bait in each and every station throughout the basement, the main areas of the office, and around the exterior of the building.
Once that was done, we stuffed each and every opening that the mice were and could be using around the building with chew-proof metal mesh. Next, we sealed them in place with a waterproof, premium adhesive. Finally, we scheduled several additional follow-up visits to replenish the bait stations until the mice are gone for good.
After purchasing his dream home in Shrewsbury, NJ, this customer wanted his attic to be reinsulated with blown-in cellulose insulation. So he contacted our Attic Systems division for help and we were sent out.
Since most of the fiberglass insulation was no longer efficient, due to age and other factors, we removed it all and disinfected the attic. Next, we installed Tight Shell Can Light Covers over all the recessed lights throughout the area. These are made out of a fire resistant material and is specifically designed to stop unwanted air leakage through the recessed lights. Once that was done we started air sealing every single gap and crack in the attic. This eliminates air flow between the living space and the attic.
We then placed several measuring sticks throughout the attic, to ensure that the proper amount of R-value is added, and then added over 10 inches of TruSoft blown-in cellulose insulation. TruSoft fills the attic to its recommended insulation levels, maximizes home comfort, has the highest Class-1 fire safety rating, is resistant to mold and pests, is eco-friendly, and optimizes energy usage for year-round peace and savings! Now the homeowner has a newly insulated, energy efficient attic.
