We replaced this old, wet and dirty vapor barrier with a new one and secured it to the walls so that it will stay intact much longer than the one before.
This crawlspace was full of water and dirty as well as rodents. Our team came in and cleaned the debris and completely finished the space leaving him with a dry, usable and healthy crawlspace.
This homeowner had some concerns with their crawl space, so they called us to schedule a free estimate and inspection. We sent out one of our knowledgeable system design specialists, and after the inspection, he met with the homeowner to address their concerns and come up with the right game plan for this crawl space. To begin this project, we remove all the debris, along with the old vapor barrier. Next, we dig a trench around the interior perimeter, to then lay down a perforated pipe into a silt sock to secure a safe passage for the water to drain to the SuperSump at the lowest point. Next, we install our TerraBlock insulation that goes directly on top of the crawl space floor, creating a barrier between the home and the earth. On top of the TerraBlock, we install our CleanSpace system. This goes all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists and is sealed at the footing of the wooden posts with our waterproof tape. We also make sure to cover all the vents in this process. To make sure the environment is controlled, we install our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. This will eliminate damp, musty odors by drying and filtering the air and will also keep the home at a healthy relative humidity. Lastly, we install our spray foam insulation. This is sprayed all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists, filling every crack and void, ensuring a complete airtight seal. This crawl space is now dry, healthy and fully protected for years to come.
This customer called us with concerns of moisture in his crawlspace and wanted to have it inspected. We pulled out the wet and dirty vapor barrier and cleaned all the moisture out and put in a smart drain so that water wouldn't collect in his crawlspace again.
The Homeowner was constantly battling with a musty smell in her home. No matter what she did, or cleaner she used, the smell just wouldn't go away. When she heard John talk about musty smells possibly coming from your crawlspace she called us out to investigate. Sure enough that was where Janine's problem began. The relative humidity in Janine's crawlspace was 70% (it is relative humidity that leads to moisture and unwanted smells) and the dank air filled the room. We encapsulated her crawlspace, installed a dehumidifier and solved Janine's problem. Now the air in her house is clean and she is saving every month on her heating and cooling.
