This project included both a safety inspection and finishing improvements in the crawl space area. The team began by inspecting the temporary wooden supports that were installed during the foundation work to ensure they could be safely removed without affecting the structure. Once confirmed, attention was turned to completing the space under the stairs. A protective liner was installed to seal the area, and new rigid insulation panels were added to the walls and ceiling, helping to improve comfort, energy efficiency, and overall cleanliness.
The Super Sump and Feedline system is a basement waterproofing solution that effectively manages excess water and prevents moisture buildup. This job involves installing a powerful sump pump and a specialized feedline to ensure the basement stays dry and protected from water damage.
We begin by removing the old liner and installing a strong moisture barrier that’s securely sealed around the footings, piers, and foundation walls. If there’s insulation already in place, we make sure the barrier fits properly in front of it for extra protection.
Next, we install a drainage mat under the barrier and up the walls to prevent moisture from seeping in. This also makes the space more durable and comfortable for storage.
We then add high-quality insulation along the rim joists to improve energy efficiency and replace any old or damaged support beams. We also clean up the space by removing old wood and large pieces of concrete around the fireplace.
To make the crawl space more accessible and better protected, we installed an insulated crawl space door with a seal. Finally, we add more wall insulation and seal all gaps to ensure no moisture or odors can get in.
For this project, we focused on improving energy efficiency, cleanliness, and pest prevention in the crawl space. We began by installing new insulation in the rim joist area and over all vents. The insulation was carefully sealed around the edges with spray foam to create an airtight barrier, helping reduce drafts and energy loss.
To prevent rodent entry, wire mesh was installed over any gaps or openings, including between the crawl space and the slab on grade, as well as inside all vents. These areas were then insulated with rigid foam for extra protection.
Next, we sprayed all concrete surfaces with a germicide to neutralize rodent urine and improve overall sanitation. The heating ducts and sewer lines were wiped down, spider webs and loose debris were removed, and stored items were cleared out. Finally, a HEPA vacuum was used on the crawl space floor to safely remove rodent droppings and leave the area clean.
The result is a crawl space that is cleaner, healthier, and better protected against pests while improving the home’s comfort and efficiency.
