This crawl space in Lexington, KY, had a very serious moisture problem. The first step we took to get the moisture under control was waterproofing the crawl space. We waterproofed by installing perforated drainage pipes underneath the floor around the perimeter of the crawl space. We then hooked these pipes up to a sump pump in the corner. After waterproofing, we then sealed the space with our CleanSpace vapor barrier, spray foam, and vent covers. Lastly, we installed our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to keep the air in the newly transformed space dry and clean as possible. The homeowner was very pleased with the outcome, specifically the boost in their homes value.
This crawl space was exposed to what we like to call "the open earth." When your crawl space is exposed to dirt, it allows for moisture to rise up through the soil, and attaches to the wood, concrete walls, and anything else that you may have in your crawl space. Unfortunately, the moisture in this crawl space grew to mold on their wooden sil plate. To start this renovation, we replaced their sil plate. We then placed our CleanSpace liner all across the walls and floor of this crawl space, sealing it from the earth. The Clean Space liner, similar to a pool liner, is heavy duty and effective at blocking out moisture, bugs, cold air, dirt, and anything else unwanted in your crawl space. We finished by installing a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier and a Condensation pump. The SaniDry Sedona is one of our most coveted products, able to take moisture from the air and collect it in large quantities at a proficient rate. The condensation pump hooks up to the SaniDry Sedona and pumps out all the water it collects.
In Frenchburg, KY, the homeowner of a 20-year-old house faced a challenge with a 2-foot clearance crawl space plagued by moisture issues, leading to potential structural risks and unpleasant odors. In the before photo, see the impact of excess moisture affecting the environment within. By installing our CleanSpace® encapsulation system as highlighted in the after photo, we created a barrier that effectively manages dampness, turning the area into a clean, secure foundation. This drenched crawl space looked like a rainforest before we came and encapsulated it. We first waterproofed the crawl space, then we installed a vapor barrier, then we sealed the crawl space vents, then we set up a dehumidification system. These four steps will ensure a dry crawl space for a long time.
This home in Richmond, Kentucky was on the market, and a third party inspector recommended to the owner that we should install a vapor barrier in the crawl space to help sell the home. We started by removing all the debris from the space, including the existing, "vapor barrier." We used quotes to describe the disheveled plastic liner that was already in the space because it wasn't stopping outside vapor at all. Next, we wrapped the entire space with our CleanSpace vapor barrier, which is much sturdier, cleaner, and effective. We ended up using 1,860 sq ft of our patented product, and we made sure to tape the seams with our CleanSpace tape to ensure the space was sealed completely. The antimicrobial liner, similar to a pool liner, will make selling this home a whole lot easier than before.
