Lisbon Falls, ME homeowners reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems because they had major concerns over the structural integrity of their foundation wall. The wall had cracked and shifted over time, with blocks pushing into the space. We installed a StableLock Wall over the affected area. StableLock is a less disruptive and costly way to repair foundation wall issues than the traditional lifting of the home. We pour a new concrete wall directly in front of the failing wall, providing structural support to the home, and preventing the failing wall from continuing to shift or bow. Since purchasing the home four years ago, this Bowdoin, ME, homeowner wanted to address the issues with their foundation and prevent it from failing. System Design Specialist Todd Bernard worked with the homeowner to design a system that would reinforce the foundation wall and prevent any damage to the home. After collaborating, Todd created a system using PowerBrace to stabilize the wall. These steel I-beams will hold the wall in its current position without requiring immediate adjustment. Over time, the PowerBrace System can be tightened to straighten bowing or tilting walls. Now, the homeowner can use their basement for storage without worry, and the health of their home is protected.

We installed the SmartJack Support System to lift and level the sagging floors above the customer’s basement because the existing support was no longer doing its job. Over time, the floor had started to sag due to weakened or poorly installed supports, making the space less functional and safe. SmartJacks provide stable, adjustable support to restore the floor to its proper level and prevent further issues.

We recently helped homeowners in Topsham, Maine repair their foundation. The owners had noticed shifting, and one wall in particular was bowing quite a bit. We installed a combination of StableLock Wall system, as well as SmartJacks. StableLock Walls are a great option for foundation wall repair when a wall is cracked, crumbling, or bowing. Rather than expensive excavation and lifting the home we simply pour a new concrete wall in front of the failing wall to give proper support and prevent further shifting. SmartJacks are installed to help support and lift any sagging floors above. SmartJacks are zinc-coated steel posts that are custom fit and can be adjusted over time. The zinc coating prevents the posts from rusting like traditional lally columns.
