Our experts inspected her basement to determine the appropriate recommendations for the space. We suggested our TripleSafe sump pump system and WaterGuard system. TripleSafe contains three pumps that fit in one durable liner. Each pump works hard to keep water leaks under control. The last pump is battery-operated, meaning it turns on if the power fails. Next, we installed WaterGuard as a drainage system to collect water leaking through the walls. This drain is installed in the subfloor and runs along the perimeter of the basement. Concrete is poured over the drainage system to ensure it blends with the space. Norma is thrilled with these waterproofing installations that protect her belongings!

After buying this house from his parents, this Grand Ledge, MI customer began to notice something strange happening to the crawl spaces. Water was building up behind the walls and leaking into the dirty crawl space. He gave us a call asking about a complete encapsulation to dry out his crawl space and keep it that way. Since there was already standing water in the crawl space, the crew needed to give it a way to escape. Our crew installed drainage matting to handle the issue. Drainage matting rests on the floor of the crawl space and will keep water from having a chance to puddle up by directing the flow to a drain. Once the matting was in place, the crew went about encapsulating the entire crawl space – floor, walls and all – with the CleanSpace. The plastic liner won’t allow moisture or humidity to permeate back into this crawl space.

The before photo of this basement shows how the leaking water caused water stains and damage to the walls. Water would leak in, flow down the wall, and puddle on the floor. Luckily, the basement was still unfinished, so the leaking water didn’t cause any damage to the carpet. Even better, the BrightWall panel solution in the after photo goes along great with unfinished basements.  The panels are made of rigid plastic and create a moisture barrier for the basement, meaning the water damage that occurred to the concrete walls won’t occur again. As water leaks down the walls, it will stay behind the panels - unseen by anyone in the basement - and flow to a perimeter drainage system at the foot of the wall.  You can see in the after photo where fresh concrete was poured to cover the drainage system. This basement will be fully protected and looking great for years to come.
