These homeowners in North Chelmsford were tired of their basement having a wet, musty smell. They planned to finish a section of the basement area in the near future, and so knew they needed to solve their water and moisture problem first. Their old sump pump was functional, but sitting in an exposed pit of water, which allowed mold to grow and moisture to spread. 

Our team proposed and installed a complete waterproofing system that would allow them to have a dry basement. First, the walls were encapsulated with CleanSpace vapor barrier, which effectively captures all moisture leaking through the basement walls. Next, we added a perimeter drainage system called WaterGuard along the base of all the foundation walls. Any water entering the basement from the edges of the foundation would be caught by the WaterGuard tracks and directed to the sump pump basin. The TripleSafe system within the basin includes 3 sump pumps and an alarm system. This waterproofing system also comes with a battery back-up, in case the home ever loses power during a storm.

This homeowner in Auburndale, Massachusetts, has owned their home for the past 14 years. They had water entering their home periodically over the last decade. They called EFS for a free inspection of their basement and our Design Specialist recommended installing a perimeter drainage system into the basement to collect any water from the basement and pump it outside the home.

A homeowner in Manchester, New Hampshire, has lived in their home since the late 1970s. Last year, the homeowners noticed water coming into their basement during heavy rains. To find out how the water was coming into the basement the homeowners called EFS for a free inspection of their basement. Our Design Specialist looked at the interior and exterior of the home to find where the water was coming in. Our Specialist found that water was seeping into the basement through the window. A homeowner in Lowell, Massachusetts has lived in a home over 200 years old. For 10 years, he has experienced water seepage ruining his basement walls and floor. Concerned about the health of his foundation, he reached out to Erickson Foundation Solutions.

Design Specialist, Victor Tapia, visited the home to provide a free home inspection. Although many people consider a French Drain (an outside perimeter drainage system), Victor explained how trenching outside the exterior of the foundation wall can be harmful. With durable soil being removed from along the foundation walls, the structural integrity is at risk, especially an old cobblestone foundation. This could cause basement walls to bow, lean, and even collapse. Victor instead recommended an indoor perimeter waterproofing system. This system is composed of our WaterGuard perimeter drainage, UltraSump sump pump, and CleanSpace vapor barrier. The system collects water along the border of the foundation and distributes it to the sump pump basin. From there, the sump pump expels water safely out of the home through an exterior discharge line. The CleanSpace vapor barrier captures any additional water that seeps through the wall and filters it to the WaterGuard system. With the wall encapsulated, moisture in the basement is also alleviated.
